my reading wrap up: December 2022

This month was mood-read a ton, and you will feel better in January. My reading was all over the place, and I didn’t really respect either my Olympus TBR or my advent calendar. I also stopped to read on the 22nd, but I’m proud of myself as I didn’t feel pressure to read.

Also, I was ill during Christmas, so when you have festivities and flu, you don’t want to do a lot.

Let’s start with the stats!

Statistics

I read eleven books in the month, including one DNF. With all that, I read a total of 2,347 pages, an average of 76 pages per day. I spent 19 days reading for a total of 23h52min. The 52 minutes were when I listened to an audiobook. The average rating for this month is 4 out of 5.

December was the month of manga series. I tried to be up to date for most of them and start the new year with a clean slate. Five of them were contemporary ones, and two were historical ones. I also started two new series, and one of them won’t continue, but the other one I will definitely continue. I also read the second book in a romance and DNFed it. Finger cross for the third and last book of this trilogy. As December equals Christmas, I decided to read a novella from a series that I really like.

I still don’t have any bonus card.

Here are the books I read in December:

Books

OLYMPUS TBR

My Roommate is a Cat Vol.2 by Minatsuki

Rating: none

This book was the one for Dionysus and the prompt graphic novel/manga/comic.

Only a Monster by Vanessa Len (Hodder & Stoughton)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s a book that I hauled less than a year which is a Demeter prompt. It was an okay book, but I won’t continue the series.

The Apothecary Diaries Vol.2 by Natsu Hyuuga

Rating: none

It was for a Hestia prompt: mood read. For this prompt, I could have chosen any books I read during December.

The Apothecary Diaries Vol.3 by Natsu Hyuuga

Rating: none

This one was for Hermes and a book which was translated, and oh boy, I had some in December.

Wolfsong by TJ Klune (Tor Books)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of my favourite books of the year, thanks to Titanomachy and my advent calendar. I was so intimidated by it, but I devoured it in three days. Can’t wait for the next instalment in the Green Creek series.

Yuletide by Carly Spade (self-pub)

Rating: none

I just realised that I can pick this book for the prompts lesser-known for Hestia. This book is a novella set in the Contemporary Mythos series world.

OTHER

My Roommate is a Cat Vol. 3 by Minatsuki

Rating: none

My Roommate is a Cat Vol. 4 by Minatsuki

Rating: none

I’m up to date with the French edition of this series.

Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher (Piatkus)

DNF @53%

I simply couldn’t, and I’m so sad. Hopefully, the last book will be better, and as we are following Cal, it can only be good, but I want to avoid having high expectations and being deceived by this book.

The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting Vol. 1 by Tsukiya

Rating: none

I need to buy volume two, it’s so sweet, and I like the gap between this sweet little girl and the world in the one she lives.

A Man & His Cat Vol. 1 by Umi Sakurai

Rating: none

Did I nearly cry at each page? Yeah! They are so sweet together, and it’s not an ugly cat; I love him a lot.

IN PROGRESS

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin @15%

Witches by Brenda Lozano @31%

Everyone on the Moon is Essential Personnel by Julian K. Jarboe @27%

I can’t believe it’s the end of the year; how it happens? I feel that yesterday was the 1st of January 2022, and now we will change and be in 2023. I hope next year will be better, and I will discover many books and love them. I wish you a happy new year and hope you will live beautiful things during 2023.

And you, which books did you read for this month? Let me know in the comment or put a ✨.

Liz.
