New manga series | cat edition

Hello bookish people,

As I’m back at reading mangas, I have bought some at the specialised bookshop in my town, and out of the six I purchased, three of them have a cat as a character, so I decided to read them all at once makes a mini-review for each of them.

First manga

Ex-Yakuza & Stray Kitten by Riddle Kamimura

Volume: Three

Still on going

Synopsis: After being abandoned in the cold rain, tiny kitten Sabu should have been grateful to find a new home. But when he’s rescued by Jin, whose every atom screams “yakuza,” Sabu suspects he’s out of the frying pan and into the fire! Yet Jin’s scarred hands and face hide a sweet man beneath… a man who pampers kitties with bath and bottle-feedings!

Review: I really like this one; the author mixes two art styles, the sweet one with Sabu and the harsher one with Jin. I was also happy to see all the other cats and dogs. I will like this series and discover these two worlds collide even if you think they couldn’t. Also, how the bad guys react to them is just hilarious.

Second manga

Creepy Cat by Cotton Valent

Volume: 4

Synopsis: Flora moves into a mysterious mansion and finds it inhabited by a strange creature–Creepy Cat! Thus begins her strange and sometimes dangerous life with a feline roommate. This Gothic comedy brings the chuckles…and the chills!

Review: I was surprised as it is a coloured one, I think it’s more of a graphic novel, but this strange world with this smoochy cat that can duplicate is lovely. I don’t know why but I found it at the same time funny, creepy and disconcerting.

Third manga

My Roommate is a Cat by Tsunami Minatsuki and As Futatsuya

Volume: 8

Still on going

Synopsis: Mystery writer Mikazuki Subaru, who isn’t good at dealing with people, finds them to be a disturbance when it comes to building his imaginary world. One day, he chances upon a stray cat and feels inspiration strike, so he brings the cat home as his muse. Can watching the inexplicable behaviours of a cat form material for a novel?

Review: I knew this manga as I watched the anime a while ago, but I still love it. I like the dual perspective; you have the scene live by both of them.

Here are all the three mangas series I started with a cat in them. I always love to have an animal in mangas as you, most of the time, have their viewpoint, and it’s so funny how it’s, in general, the complete opposite of what the humans are thinking.

Let me know if you have read any of these mangas or if you know other mangas with an animal as the main character.

See you soon,

Liz.
