This is the second moment of the year where I slowly fall into a reading slump, but the same problem as last month, I WANT TO READ! Even if my brain doesn’t want to, I desperately need books and reading time (under a blanket and with a PSL.)
To help me, I decided to do a 48h readathon during the last weekend of October to make me read one book faster and try to read until my 80th book. Unfortunately, I only achieved some goals as I sadly had a migraine during this readathon. Nevertheless, I read as much as possible, which helped me read 2 whole books, finish one, and start another. For this readathon, I choose to use the board for the Mini StarHop by Stephanie’s Bookverse (her channel) as it’s the easiest one for a small readathon like that.
Let’s start with the stats!
Statistics
I read nine books in the month, including one that I’m still reading and one started last month. With all that, I read a total of 2,442 pages, an average of 78 pages per day. I spent 25 days reading for a total of 44h33min, including 1h18 min of an audiobook. The average rating for this month is 3.33 out of 5.
I only read four different genres that were kinda the same as the previous month; I just added my monthly non-fiction. I read all of my books in physical format; I just use the beginning of an audiobook to remind myself what happened as I started this book in 2020. Most of the books targeted adults, but I still had three for a young adult audience. I have already read most of the authors of this month either in standalone or series.

I still don’t have any bonus card.
Here are the books I read in October, and I put an (x) before the book in the monthly mini-review post that will be published on November 04th.
Books
OLYMPUS TBR
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Jo Fletcher)
(Review on November 08th)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was the one for Hermes and the prompt POC rep; it’s the only one I read on my original Olympus TBR. I restarted the book as I started reading it in 2020, and I was so oppressed by it that I completely stopped reading it. However, as I explored new genres since then, it’s a lot easier to read.
The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Penguin Books)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one is for the god Ares and the prompt thriller. Technically, I don’t know if it’s really one, but I wanted to read it before buying the third book as I want to finish this series this year (or at least the three main books.)
Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang (HarperVoyager)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With this book, I’m stretching the rule a little as technically; I started this book last month but finished it at the beginning of this one, but as we say, my game equals my rule. So this book is for the prompt recent purchase, and it was for Hermes. Btw, I made a full spoiler review of this book so if you want to read it, click here.
So This Is Ever After by F.T. Lukens (Margaret K. McElderry Books)
(Review on November 11th)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was my initial choice for Hermes and the prompt recent purchase, but as I wasn’t prepared to read it, I decided to replace it with Babel by RF Kuang. But, in the end, I read it, so here are two books for one prompt.
The Windsor Knot by SJ Bennett (William Morrow)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️
I choose this book to replace the one I choose for the prompt of Hephaestus to read standalone. I wasn’t in the mood for the one I decided to read as it’s too near to my life, and I didn’t want to go to mental hell after reading it. However, I’m sure of one thing: I will love it.
OTHER
(x) Lunatic by Onley James (Self-pub)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally, I was in the mood to read it, it’s not my favourite, either the romance or the backstory, but now the end makes me want only one thing, the next book. I can’t wait to be in January!
(x) Witches: The Transformative Power of Women Working Together by Sam George-Allen (Melville House)
Rating: none
This was my non-fiction of the month, and even if I wasn’t outstruck by it, it was a very interesting book to read.
(x) The Wicked + The Divine: Rising Action by Kieron Gillen (Image Comics)
Rating: none
I was starting to have a migraine and wanted to continue my readathon, so I decided to read a comic.
IN PROGRESS
The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I’m at 49%. I wanted to read this book to finish the series. I’m not far enough to know if I will continue or stop it.
LOSE A LIFE
Cat Among the Pigeons by Agatha Christie: I wasn’t in the mood to read it, nor was I in the mood for an Agatha Christie book.
Next month, I still don’t have any readathons, and I hope that it will be a better month than this one. However, I had a particular frustration, which needs to stop; I may do a 48h readathon at the end of the month (again).
And you, which books did you read for this month? Let me know in the comment or put a 🌲.
Liz.
