November Olympus TBR

How to explain October? For everyone, it’s a spooky season; for me, it was a really dreadful time. My mental health went down; it felt like my brain had just shut down most of my abilities. So reading-wise, it was so difficult, and the worst was that I wanted to read, but my brain was, ‘nope, I won’t!’

I also now have a new cat which means that I have two. Unfortunately, even if they are good together, the oldest had laryngitis. Still, the week before, it was indigestion (he loved the kitten kibbles), and two weeks back, it was his vaccine. So I think I spent most of my time this month at the veterinarian. However, it’s not finished, as I need to go for the little one as he needs to be castrated.

Yep! It was hectic; I just hope that November will be more lenient.

Let’s start with my Olympus TBR!

OLYMPUS TBR

Prompts for November

The rolls

Roll 1 (6)

God: Hephaestus

Prompt: Give a second chance to a book or author or series

Pick: A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz (publisher: Penguin Books)

Why: I DNFed the second book of this series, and the first didn’t blow my mind. However, as this one has one of my favourite tropes, murder on an isolated island, I still want to try it. So this time, I choose to give a second chance to a series.

Roll 2 (5)

Goddess: Aphrodite

Prompt: Read a beautiful book

Pick: Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim (publisher: Hodder & Soughton)

Why: I just find this cover beautiful, it was more a book cover buy than anything.

Roll 3 (4)

Goddess: Hestia

Prompt: Read an uplifting/comforting book

Pick: Better Together by Christine Riccio (publisher: Wednesday Books)

Why: It reminds me of a film I LOVED when I was younger: The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan. I hope that I will feel the same while reading this book.

Roll 4 (4)

Goddess: Hestia

Prompt: Read a classic

Pick: Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier (publisher: Virago Modern Classic)

Why: The story with this book is that I’ve been drawn to it since I bought it, and I’m surprised that I still didn’t read it yet.

Roll 5 (13)

Goddess: Demeter

Prompt: Read a book with an horizontal title on the spine

Pick: In the Land of Men by Adrienne Miller (publisher: Ecco)

Why: I’m trying to put at least a non-fiction in my monthly TBR. This one thoroughly answers this prompt, as the title on the spine is written horizontally when the book is held vertically.

Those are the five books I will read for November, equaling the small amount of 1,848 pages. I won’t participate in any readathon but I may do a 24h or 48h by myself.

Don’t hesitate to share the books that you want to read this month or give your thoughts about these books if you have already read them.

Liz.
