This month was so strange for me, like I was reading, but at the same time, I wasn’t reading enough. This feeling followed me from the beginning to the end of the month. Of course, I don’t really know what happened as I read not a significant amount of books, but still, it wasn’t like I didn’t read.
This feeling was coupled with frustration as I wasn’t feeling like I was really participating in the Bookoplathon. I rolled the dice seven times (once was because I had a double) which isn’t a bad thing, but it felt like a failure. Also, I didn’t read one day, which broke my 73-day reading streak, which didn’t help either.
Let’s start with the stats!
Statistics
I read ten books in the month, including one that I’m still reading and two DNF. With all that, I read a total of 2,434 pages, an average of 81 pages per day. I spent 29 days reading for a total of 37h19min, including 10 min of an audiobook. The average rating for this month is 4 out of 5.
I only read three different genres, contemporary, mystery and fantasy, but all the books had dark academia or autumnal vibes. I read all of my books in physical format, but there is one that I tried in mixed media before DNFing it, which I finally did. Seven books were adult, one that I categorised as a new adult and two young adults. Lastly, six authors were new to me, and the three others I had already read as a series or standalone from them.

I still don’t have any bonus card.
Here is the book I read in July, and I put an (x) before the book in the monthly mini-review post that will be published on October 02nd 2022.
Books
OLYMPUS TBR
(x) The Wicked + The Divine: Fandemonium by Kieron Gillen (Image Comics)
Rating: none
This book was the one for Poseidon and the myths prompt. I freaking love this series, and I can’t wait to continue it, especially with this ending. I just cannot believe it!
(x) Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson (Simon Schuster Books for Young Readers)
Rating: DNF @18%
This book was the half-god choice in the title pot. Aaaand, I couldn’t like read it for real; I think YA contemporary books aren’t for me anymore.
BOOKOPLATHON
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley (HarperCollins)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was on my Olympus TBR for the mystery prompt for Ares. However, I decided to also use it for my first roll of the Bookoplathon, which was building on the cover. Therefore, I stretch the prompt a little as there is no actual building on my edition, but an apartment is part of a building, and you have the Eiffel Tower on the cover.
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake (Tor Books)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️
This was my second roll where I felt on the poll pick space. This case means that I need to do a poll on any social media, and the one who receives the most votes is the winner. So I posted my poll on Discord. The choices were this book, The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz and Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala. The Atlas Six received 27 votes, more than double the result of the second winner.
(x) Square One by Nell Frizzell (Bantam Press)
Rating: DNF @36%
As you can see, my third roll was, sadly, a DNF. The worse is that I wanted to fall on this space like I was praying for it as I find this one, so fun to do. You use a randomiser for emojis, like the best idea ever. I had this one: 🔶which is easy as it can have a ton of significance, and I had the perfect book. Nevertheless, it was a big nope for me, and I preferred to DNF it.
La Bibliothèque des Rêves Secrets by Michiko Aoyama (Nami)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In the beginning, I chose another book for my fourth roll, which was a double, but after a two stars book and a DNF, I decided to read a book in French that felt autumnal. Everything in this book makes you feel like it. It’s a big soft hug that just wants you to feel okay and gives you hope in yourself and your future. And for once, I wanted to do a review exclusively in French, sorry.
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree (Cryptid Press)
(review on October 07th)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is my fifth roll (it follows the double), and I needed to read a book with a third-person point of view. I didn’t know it would be so tricky; I have many more books with first pov or multi pov than third pov. It also replaces GirlCrush by Florence Given for the Olympus TBR and the prompt standalone.
(x) Komi Can’t Communicate Vol. 3 by Tomohito Oda (Pika)
Rating: none
This was my last roll, and I finished on the person on the cover space. I needed to do the last one as I was participating in Becca’s reading sprints, and the rule is that if she rolls a double, you change the book you are reading.
OTHER
(x) The Wicked + The Divine: Commercial Suicide by Kieron Gillen (Image Comics)
Rating: none
I decided to read this book as I wasn’t feeling well that day (thanks to a migraine) so I couldn’t focus a complicated book.
CURRENTLY READING
Babel by RF Kuang (Harper Voyager)
Progress @50%
The sixth roll is the prompt big book, which means a book with 500 pages or more. Let me tell you; I was sure I would fall on that space at some point. Unfortunately, the dice were too lovely from the beginning of the month.
LOSE A LIFE
The Bookshop on the Shore by Jenny Colgan
Next month, I don’t have any readathon, so I will enjoy reading smaller books and at least one non-fiction. I also need to finish my current read, but I know it won’t take long as I have already read a good part.
And you, which books did you read for this month? Let me know in the comment or put a 🍂.
Liz.
