I’m feeling better, and it can be seen in my readings. As I wasn’t sure how this month would be, I prefer to not force myself, and privilege mood read. This decision was the best I have made as I could read six books, two more than I thought at the beginning.
Finger cross it will stay like that in August, and I won’t relapse into a new reading slump.
Let’s start with the stats!
Statistics
I read five books in the month, and the sixth one is still in progress. Normally I will finish it at the beginning of August. With all that, I read a total of 1,863 pages, an average of 60 pages per day. I spent 25 days reading for a total of 31h45min, including 6h20min of an audiobook. The average rating for this month is 3.75 out of 5.
I continue to have some romance in my TBR, but like last month, I went for different genres as I was mood reading. Also, I was still reading in physical format; I only used mixed media for one book as it was a dense one.

I still don’t have any bonus card.
Here is the book I read in July, and, I put an (x) before the book in the monthly mini-review post that will be published on the 04th of August 2022.
Books
OLYMPUS TBR
Jade City by Fonda Lee (Orbit)
Rating: 🫖🫖🫖
I finally finished this book; this one was my pick for Titanomachy. To help me, I decided to read with the audiobook. For a while, reading it was the first thing I would do in the morning while having my breakfast. Thanks to this book, I now have a new habit in the morning.
The Fine Print by Lauren Asher (Piatkus)
(review coming the 2nd of August)
Rating: 🫖🫖🫖🫖
This book was my draw from the title pot as I was on half-god. So let me tell you, August is my birthday month, and I can’t be happier to have this book as a book of the month for the Cliterature Book Club. I was freaking into this book, and I think I now have my first book boyfriend: Rowan.
You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akaewe Emezi (Faber & Faber)
(Review published the 10th of August)
Rating: 🫖🫖🫖
With this bright pink cover, I was attracted by this book; let me tell you, it’s a really good purchase. Perfect read for summer, and it replaces Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree for a book with an evolution, which was a Demeter card.
OTHER
(x) Lore Olympus Volume 2 by Rachel Smythe (Del Rey)
Rating: 🫖🫖🫖🫖🫖
Can you believe I forgot that this book was published this month? Like it is one of my favourite graphic novels, and I forgot! How is it possible?
(x) Pandora’s Jar: Women in the Greek Myths by Natalie Haynes (Picador)
Rating: none
This book is the one that makes me read again after a horrible reading slump. Who could have guessed that non-fiction would be so assertive?
LOSE A LIFE
The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams
Hestia -> a book with a library
Sadly, I didn’t read this book, and I couldn’t replace it with another one I read in July as none of them had a library.
IN PROGRESS
(x) Beach Read by Emily Henry (Berkley)
Progress: 63%
This book is a reread for me; even if I don’t do that a lot, I was so drawn to this book after reading Book Lovers (review) by the same author that I needed to read it.
After a hard month of June, it seems that I’m back on track and ready for August. To continue on that path, I will have two readathons to help me reach my goal.
And you, which books did you read for this month? Let me know in the comment!
Liz.
