NOTE #4: I’m in a giant reading slump

Hello bookish people,

So as you have seen in the title, I’m in a massive reading slump that started toward the end of May. There are some reasons for it. First, the number of books I read in May. I was binge-reading more than simply reading, so my brain can’t handle reading anymore. Then, I decided to slow the pace at the beginning of June, but I DNFed the book I read that month. Lastly, and the most important, is that I’m not in a good mental health state at all. The only thing I want to do is to stay in my bed and do nothing.

As you can expect, that issue has some consequences:

  • Except for this post, I won’t post anything this week. Also, I don’t know when my next review will be published, as I currently can’t read and don’t have any reviews in waiting.
  • For my June Olympus TBR, I simply cancelled it. I don’t want to have any pressure to read a certain amount of books either I want to limit myself; it will be a mood-read month (if I can read.)
  • Last month, I decided to participate in the Whateverthon in June, so I pledged to read 8 books which isn’t enormous. However, as I struggled, I chose to stop this readathon which is sad because it was one of my most anticipated readathons of the year.
  • On the last weekend of June, there will be the Mini Star Hop 48h by Stephanie’s Bookverse. I just hope that I will be able to participate in it, but if I can’t, I will undoubtedly do it later in the year as it’s an easy one to adapt.

As I said before, I DNFed a book at the beginning of the month, but I also started some books that I didn’t finish:

  • Jade City by Fonda Lee is a political fantasy and the first book in the Green Bone Saga. I’m at 41% of the book, and I read it in mixed format (physical and audiobook.)
  • Neon Gods by Katee Roberts is a dark romance and the first book of the Dark Olympus series. I’m at 32% of the book.

I hope I can finish them before the end of the month as I don’t like to have books in progress when I finish a month.

This is the end; thanks for reading this post. Tell me how you overcome a reading slump or put 😞 in the comment.

See you soon,

Liz.
