Weekly Diary #5 | 01.05.22 – 08.05.22

Hello bookish people,

So this week was remarkable in terms of reading. I didn’t think that I would be able to read as many books like that in one week. Like I read all the published books of a series that is five, and then I make a reread of one of my favourite graphic novel series (which is now a Netflix series) with four books published. Let me tell you, I’m so proud of what I have achieved this week.

Let’s go for this week!!

DIARY

Sunday (01.05)

  • I needed to write an article, but I decided to change my schedule and post it later next week as I post nearly every day this week.
  • When I woke up, I was scrolling on Discord. A person in the Cliterature Discord talked about a series, which intrigued me. So guess what I have done? The summary was intriguing, so I wanted to read it. Still, I was a little afraid, so I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited to read the book, and I read it all day. Like I started and finished it the same day! Even if some of the themes are hard to read about, I really like this romance. So a new series on my list: Necessary Evils by Onley James.

Monday (02.05)

  • I worked on my weekly post as I was a little late for it, but I still succeeded and posted it at the right time.
  • My afternoon wasn’t the best as I was confined in my room because the front door was changed for a new and better one. Hence, I needed to constrict my cat to my room and to make him feel better, I stayed with him.
  • During that time, I had the time to rearrange my “read” bookshelves. Now it’s only by alphabetical order; the previous order was a struggle when I needed to organise my books.
  • I listened to music and danced, but I didn’t read that day.

Tuesday (03.05)

  • I went to Paris to work on my blog, but I will be honest, I didn’t work a lot.
  • The only thing I wanted to do was read, so I did. The only problem was that the book I wanted to read wasn’t the one I should read. But I decided to listen to myself and read the one I wanted to read. So like for the previous one in the series, I read Psycho by Onley James in one day.

Wednesday (04.05)

  • I had a nail appointment in the afternoon but too late to go to Paris and read in a garden. So now my nails are in a beautiful lilac colour.
  • I also had an email to say that my car is finally in construction. I can’t wait to have it!!
  • I wanted to read so much, but since I watched Heartstopper, I wanted to do a reread and today was the day. So I read all four volumes, and oh my god! I can’t wait for the fifth volume to be published and dive again into this story.

Thurday (05.05)

  • Like all the days before this one, I wanted only one thing: read. However, I think it was maybe too much this time. So, I read two books: Moonstruck and Headcase (the first half) by Onley James, books 3 and 4 of the Necessary Evils.
  • Btw, it’s all I had done that day 🤫

Friday (06.05)

  • I had an appointment at 2pm, and then I went to Paris to work on my blog as usual.
  • I worked on the Crownbreaker review as I DNFed it early in the book. It was more challenging to do as I didn’t have much to say. Then as I was in the Spellslinger world, I also wrote the Book Series & Me episode that corresponds to it. I have done most of it, but some elements were missing, so I know that I will continue it tomorrow.
  • I went home, and I finished Headcase by Onley James, the fourth book released in the Necessary Evils series. I only have another one to read, and I will be up to date. I may try to read it this weekend, so I can maybe make a post about that.

Saturday (07.06)

  • I finished the 10th episode of Book Series & Me about the Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell; it took me a pretty long time as Photoshop didn’t want to work.
  • I didn’t read as I wasn’t in the mood for once.
  • I decided to redo some pages in my reading journal as I wasn’t satisfied with them. I also prepared my pages for the Bookoplathon (21st to 22nd May).
  • I also watched the premiere on Youtube for the Whateverathon organised by Maddie (her youtube channel). However, there were some technical problems, so I will wait and watch the whole video so she can reupload it without problems. But just what I saw, I want to be in June! (video of announcement)

Sunday (08.05)

  • I decided to DNF Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li. Not because I didn’t like it, it was okay for me, but because I feel like I have finished it, and I’m only 73% in the book. I don’t really know how to explain this feeling, so yeah.
  • I also entirely read Mad Man by Onley James, the fifth book and last published for now of the Necessary Evils.
  • I finished my day watching some live on Twitch.

MY READ

  • So Sunday was the beginning of the downward path to the Necessary Evils series by Onley James. That day I started with the first book, Unhinged and oh boy! I loved it so much; that I just wanted to continue right away with the second book. But I wait… 2 days before reading it. I finally read the second book: Psycho, as I couldn’t wait. The next day, I didn’t read any of this series, and then on Thursday, I read book three, Moonstruck, and started Headcase (book 4), which I finished the next day. I wasn’t in the mood to read on Saturday, so I read Mad Man on Sunday. Each of them took me an average of 4h47, and the series has an average of 3.7 for now.
  • So on Wednesday, I reread all the Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman like I couldn’t not do it, especially after watching (or binge-watching) the Netflix show. I cried again when reading the fourth book like no one touched this couple. Again they all have 5 out of 5 stars.
  • Sadly, I decided to DNF Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li. As I said, it’s not the book in itself, even if it’s just an okay + read as my expectation were too high, but I had the feeling to have finished it at 73%.

Okay, that was the best and somewhat unbelievable beginning of the month. Did I start my Olympus TBR? No. Do I mind about it? Nope! I hope you like that post; tell me in the comment if you have read those books or put ❤️ as I will continue with the romance next week.

See you next week,

Liz.
