For May, I will mainly read Contemporary Romance. It’s a challenge for me as I’m not used to reading only one genre in a month. I need to have diversity in genres because I can be easily fed up with reading only one genre. However, the weather is so bright that I want to read quick and easy read.
I may participate in one readathon, but I’m not sure. The readathon is for the Final Book Support Group (FBSG), and it will be from the 2nd of May to the 15th of May. However, there is one I will absolutely participate in and it’s the Bookoplathon 48h edition starting on the 21st May at midnight BST and finishing on the 22nd May at 11:59pm BST.
Let’s start with my Olympus TBR!
OLYMPUS TBR
Prompts for May

The rolls

Roll 1 (5)
Goddess: Aphrodite
Prompt: Read a book that I’m desperate to read
Pick: It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey (publisher: Avon Books)
Why: Since last year, I have wanted to read this book, but I have been waiting for the second of the series to be published, so if I like it, I can totally buy the second book without waiting.

Roll 2 (17)
Titanomachy
Prompt: Read a book with more than 450 pages
Pick: The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas (publisher: Simon & Schuster)
Why: This book is 468 pages. First, it totally fulfils the prompt; second, why? I have a struggle with romances that are more than 400 pages. I struggle to connect those two points together.

Roll 3 (10)
Goddess: Artemis
Prompt: Read a young adult
Pick: A Chorus Rises by Bethany C. Morrow (publisher: TorTeen Books)
Why: I pre-order this book last year, but I still didn’t read it. As the cover has Spring vibes and it’s a small book AND YA, I chose this one.

Roll 4 (8)
Goddess: Athena
Prompt: Read a historical book
Pick: Galatea by Madeline Miller (publisher: Bloomsbury)
Why: This book is so short and small! When I bought it, I was so surprised by it, but I wanted to read it this month as it’s a long time since I read a retelling. So I put it for this prompt: even if it’s a myth, it’s supposed to be set in the Ancient Times.

Roll 5 (13)
Goddess: Demeter
Prompt: Read a book in paperback format
Pick: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (publisher: Corvus)
Why: I couldn’t have a better prompt for this book. This is the book of the month for the Cliterature Book Club. I didn’t read it when the hype was there, so I think it’s time to read it.
Note: the Cliterature Book Club is a book club where we read smutty romance book. It’s hosted by the booktuber Steph Loves (her channel); you have an announcement video (here) and a Twitter (here).
Those are the five books that I will read for May, which equal the small amount of 1,476 pages. However, there are some other books I want to read this month, and yeah, they are also romances.
OTHERS
The two other books are The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. Those two books add 715 pages to my previous total. So as you can see, yeah, I decided to read all the Contemporary Romances that were really hyped and didn’t read because of that.
READATHONS
Bookoplathon 48H edition
Like last year, we have 48H to read books corresponding to 8 prompts. You can use a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 8 to complete them. It’s a fun challenge as you only have two prompts that are revealed every 12 hours, so you can’t prepare a specific TBR. Also, it’s created by Becca and the Books (Youtube channel), but also, you have for the entire weekend different hosts which allow the readathon to be entirely streamed.
For more information: here and how I have done last year: here
We already have the first two prompts: a small book (less than 300 pages) and gods (a book with a godlike representation.) This time I can easily combine them with Ares by Carly Spade. The book is about the god Ares and is only 289 pages.
Final Book Support Group readathon
If I participate in this readathon, I won’t prepare any TBR; it will come as I will read.
If I read all the books that I mentioned in that post, I have 2,480 pages for May. I hope I won’t have any reading slump and that I will like all the books I choose.
Don’t hesitate to share the books that you want to read this month or give your thoughts about these books if you have already read them.
Liz.
