Weekly Diary #1 | 01.04.22 – 10.04.22

Hello bookish people,

Last year, I decided to do a diary for the readathon I was doing in September. I liked it, even if it can take some time to do it. I also like to go back and see what I was doing at that time, so I decided to do it again this month. However, I will try to continue after the end of April and make it an actual diary.

Why start in April?

I wanted to do it from the beginning of the year. Still, I lacked motivation, and the Orilium: Spring Equinox readathon, which is a month-long, is an excellent reason to start.

Why making it public?

Since I’m young, I have wanted to have a diary and see my evolution. Still, I struggle to commit to it, so maybe if I’m doing it on my blog (so public), I will be more accountable for it.

So, in this first Weekly Diary post, we follow the first three days and the first complete week of April.

DIARY

Friday 01.04:

  • I spend my day re-writing some of my evening courses on the history of art classes I take on Friday as leisure. My notes were so messy, so I needed to do that, but as we are talking about Greek and Roman myths, it takes so much time as it’s very, very complex.
  • After a break of an hour, I continued my current book, From Blood and Ash, by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m at nearly 60%; my aim is to finish it on Sunday so I can start a new book on Monday and write the review to publish it not too long after reading it as it was a read for March. I’m using the Pomodoro method to help me read a book without being bothered by the time it takes me. For that, I put some “study with me” videos on Youtube.

Saturday 02.04:

  • I spent a lot of time preparing the month of April and a little for May for my blog on a Google sheet. I have a ton to do to share between the reviews, the readathons, and the usual end of the month posts.
  • I also started to prepare the reviews for 4:50 from Paddington by Agatha Christie that I finished earlier that week, even if I know that I surely will add more things to say about it before doing the review for the post.
  • I started to write this post as I wrote about what I did yesterday.
  • I also read a little more of From Blood and Ash; I am nearly at the end. I have less than 100 pages to read, but I will finish it tomorrow as I already spent two hours reading it today, and it was late when I finished the part I wanted to read.

Sunday 03.04:

  • I finally finished From Blood and Ash. I really liked it; even if it was a slow-paced book for me, I didn’t see the time passed. There are some issues with it, but I can overlook them. However, even if I gave 4 to this first book of a series, I won’t continue the series. I don’t care enough for the future of the series or the characters, so I will stop here (also, because I have a ton of series to finish, start, or continue, so I don’t have time to waste.)
  • I also finished preparing all the reviews for tomorrow as I will write them, so they will be done early in the week so I won’t have to do them later in the week and be stuck because I don’t know what to write.
  • Side note: I made an appointment with the hairdresser for tomorrow at 1:30pm. After, I will directly go to Starbucks in Paris to work on my blog.

Monday 04.04:

  • I went to the hairdresser, and I had such a good time. Even if it took a long time, I didn’t mind at all. It was a time for self-care, and it felt so good to do it, especially as the weather wasn’t the best.
  • Next, I went to Starbucks to work on my blog. I wrote the two reviews for this week, 4:50 from Paddington by Agatha Christie, available tomorrow and From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, released on Friday.
  • I went back home and hesitated between reading a manga or starting a book that I have as an e-arc and that I need to read before the 12th of April as the document will be archived, and I won’t be able to read it anymore. I finally chose to read the last option and started the arc. In the beginning, it took me some time to adjust as you have a lot of characters, but now I’m okay with it. I stop reading it at chapter 9 (or 30%), and for now, I will say that I am neutral toward it.
  • I also decided to prepare all the posts that will be posted this month. I took so much time doing it, but it’s done, and I’m glad about it.

Tuesday 05.04:

  • I haven’t done many things. I just continue re-writing my history of art courses. Then I had some problem with my computer, so some writing just disappeared, did I scream after my laptop? Yeah, totally because why I haven’t done anything. So, yeah, I re-wrote everything!
  • I wasn’t sure to read after that, so I watched something on YouTube and decided to read at nearly 11pm. I finished my reading session at more than 50% of my book, and I crashed directly after.

Wednesday 06.04:

  • I didn’t respect what I wanted to do that day, but I’m happy with its outcome.
  • I wanted to continue re-writing the last part of my history of art class, but all I wanted to do was read. So, I decided to read the last part of my current read, and I spent the day doing it. Overall, it was a good cosy mystery book, but I wasn’t so into the romance, and it feels like a first of a series. So I finished another book which up the total of books read to two. I now will try to squeeze one more book before the Magical Hopathon, which starts on Monday.
  • I also gave my cat his anti parasitic pipette. Unfortunately, he hates it, so it took some time to do it.

Thursday 07.04:

  • I didn’t accomplished anything that day. I was so exhausted, I can’t explain why.
  • I only took an appointment for my nails as I needed to take care of them like it was urgent.

Friday 08.04:

  • I went to my appointment for my nails. This time, I chose the same colour as last time, peachy pink. However, I hesitated between this colour and a dark red as the weather wasn’t good. Especially that day it was raining the whole day.
  • I went to the Starbucks even if it was raining, but I only stayed one hour and a half as I wasn’t feeling well. I asked for a real cup for my latte as I didn’t want to drink in a disposable cup. There I worked on updating my Goodreads and StoryGraph accounts and planning things for my blog. I also wanted to start my next read as I will listen to it while reading it physically, but as I wasn’t well, I didn’t do it.
  • When I was back home, I wasn’t in the mood to read, so I preferred not to do it.

Saturday 09.04:

  • I didn’t do a lot that day as I was in the mood to read. However, I wasn’t in the mood to read the book I initially wanted to start, so I decided to change and take a small book and an easy read, so I chose to read Apollo by Carly Spade. I read half of the book, but I needed to stop as I was exhausted after a certain time.
  • I also bought two books: Ares by Carly Spade (the third instalment in the Contemporary Mythos series) and Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. The last one is an out of comfort zone book, but it looks so cosy.
  • Late in the night, I was feeling productive (don’t ask why), so I started to make the skeleton of this post.

Sunday 10.04:

  • When I woke up, I prepared rapidly to go vote as it is the presidential election in France.
  • I worked on this post and finished it while listening to K-Pop.
  • I finished Apollo by Carly Spade. I loved this book, but at the same time I didn’t have any expectations before reading it as I wasn’t a fan of the previous book in this series. I’m happy to start the Magical Hopathon with a clean canvas, no book-in-progress that I need to stop because I want to concentrate on the readathon.

MY READ

  • I finished From blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and  I gave it 4 stars and on CAWPILE: 7.71. The review is available here
  • I finally read the e-Arc, I had on Netgalley A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari. It’s a 7.29 on CAWPILE, which is a 4 out of 5 stars. I don’t know when to do the review as the book will be released on the 07th of June; I may post it closer to this date.
  • The last book is Apollo by Carly Spade. I gave it 8.86 on CAWPILE, which is a 4.5 out of 5 stars. The review will be available next week. This book fulfils one of my assignments in the Orilum: Spring Equinox readathon, which is Lore, where I need to read a book that is mythology-inspired.

I am happy with my week, and I hope it will continue like that for the month to come. I hope you like that post; tell me in the comment if you have read those books or put a ❤️ as all the books have a romance in them.

See you next week,

Liz.
