April Olympus TBR

In April, I kinda want to challenge myself. So I chose five rolls even if I knew that one of the books would be a big one, which is also one that loses life in February, and the other will be an “out of comfort zone” ones. Also, I decided to participate in not one but two readathons. Am I crazy to do it? Yeah, totally, but the weather and the fact that we are now in Spring make me do it.

You will see the book a little later. Still, for the readathon, I will participate in Orilium: Spring Equinox and Magical Hopathon. For the latter, it’s my first time for this one, but an important one. It will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris.

Let’s start with my Olympus TBR!

OLYMPUS TBR

Prompts for April

The rolls

Roll 1 (17)

Titanomachy

Prompt: Read a book with more than 450 pages

Pick: Crownbreaker by Sebastien de Castell (publisher: Hot Key Books)

Why: So… I tried to read this book in February as it’s the last one of a series. However, I wasn’t in the mood for it, so I decided to not read it and remove a life for this book. I’m very into reading this damn book and finishing this series this time. This book is 504 pages, so totally for this prompt.

Roll 2 (3)

God: Poseidon

Prompt: Read a book from from an author whose name starts with “P”

Pick: Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price (publisher: HarperTeen)

Why: This time I decided to go for the last name. This was a hard prompt to find as I don’t have as many authors with a name starting with “P” as I thought.

Roll 3 (12)

God: Dionysus

Prompt: Read a book matching my outfit

Pick: Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix (publisher: Quirk Books)

Why: When I chose my books, I was wearing mainly black and white, but I also had some touch of blue/green, beige and yellow (thanks to my socks.) This is the cover I had most of the colour I was wearing. Also, earlier in the week, I went to Ikea, and it gave me the vibe to read this book.

Roll 4 (15)

God: Hades

Prompt: Read a book with dog

Pick: SpyxFamily vol.4 by Tatsuya Endo (publisher: Kurokawa)

Why: First, you have a dog on the cover, and second, I know there will be a dog in this volume as one of the characters asked for it in the previous one. I will read this manga in French because I have a chunky book, and I want to have the possibility to chill a little (also because I only have it in French.)

Roll 5 (14)

Goddess: Persephone

Prompt: Read a book with Spring/Summer vibes

Pick: A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari (publisher: Crooked Lane Books)

Why: I have had this ARC for a long time, and I just remembered that I need to read it before the 12th of April because it will be archived on that date, and I won’t be able to read it after. However, it totally corresponds to the prompt. You follow a botanist, and you have a lot of flowers on the cover. Release date: 07th June 2022

Those are the five books that I will read for April, which equal the small amount of 1,588 pages. I calculated this twice as it’s less than last month, but the book stack was shorter in March, so strange. However, it’s not finished yet as I still have to talk about the readathons I’m participating in.

READATHON

As I said before, I’m participating in two readathons.

1) Orilium: Spring Equinox by Book Roast

Here we are! The start of the first semester at Orilium. After the Novice Path and last preparation with Gear Up, we can finally start this new year! The Spring Equinox period will begin on the 1st and end on the 30th of April. For this part of the readathon, we need to choose our calling (aka future job) and read as many books as we have exams.

More information: here

I decide to go for the calling of the Story Weaver. I love the capacities we can have and that it’s about the mind and its capabilities. I need to complete four courses/exams to succeed in my first semester.

  • Art of Illusion (book with trope you like): I don’t know yet
  • Inscription (intimidating book): Crownbraker by Sebastien de Castell (no need of explanation)
  • Lore (mythology inspired): Apollo by Carly Spade
  • Psionics & Divination (book set in the future): Skyward: Here There Be Dragonflies by Joe Henderson

2) Magical Hopathon by Rachel Cerys

In this readathon, you celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, which is on the 12th of April. The readathon is for two weeks as you have two parks, so it starts on the 11th and ends on the 24th. To succeed in this readathon, you need to choose a park to start (Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney Studios) and read a book to “buy” your ticket entrance. Then you read another book that fulfils a prompt for this park in any category (attractions, shows, characters.) From that, you decide if you want to stay in your park or want to change. You can change as many times of park as you wish.

I decided to start with Disneyland Paris like I do each time I go to IRL, and I try to choose the attraction that I like the most. I may add more books, but with the book of my Olympus TBR and one more, I could at least complete four prompts (including my ticket entrance.)

  • Ticket entrance (read a book that is calling to you): Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price
  • Hyperspace Mountain (read a book that will take you out of this world): Skyward: Here There Be Dragonflies by Joe Henderson
  • Tower of Terror (read a book that spooks you out): Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix
  • Animation Academy (read a graphic novel/manga): SpyxFamily Vol.4 by Tatsuya Endo

With the books I’m adding for those readathons, I now have to read seven books, but I’m also adding book three in the Skyward series, so the count is eight. However, as I only add small books, I only have 469 to add for my final count, which is 2,057 pages to read this month.

Don’t hesitate to share the books that you want to read this month or give your thoughts about these books if you have already read them.

Liz.
