my reading summary: September 2021

It was a mediocre month, reading-wise, but also mentally. I participated in two readathons, and that part wasn’t a problem, and for that, I’m surprised as I was sure to be stressed by it at some point in the month. However, I struggled with my reading as I didn’t like some of the books, and if I liked them except two, I only gave a three stars rating. On top of that, I wasn’t in the right mindset to read, and I finished the month with a reading slump, thanks to the autumn equinox.

The problem with my mental health is that I don’t want to read. I would like to take a break before starting October, but I can’t as I need to finish a book, an ARC, before the 15th of October, its release date.

As I said in my Note #1 post, I will not give myself any punishment for September as I read the six mandatory books, even if it’s not the ones I choose at the beginning of the month.

Statistics

I read a total of 2,161 pages in September, which means an average of 72 per day. It also means that I spent 40 hours of the month reading. As a result, this month’s average rating is three out of five stars.

To create my TBR for October, I used one of my bonus cards: Change a prompt, but I still have the re-roll the dice one.

Here is the book I read during September with their prompts (if there is one). If you want to read a book’s review, you just need to click on the (x).

BOOKS

OLYMPUS TBR

(x) Small Favors by Erin A. Craig (published by Delacorte Press)

Rating: 🫖🫖 – – –

The book was for Artemis and her Element of Nature demand. On the cover, you have a lot of nature, like flowers or bees. I didn’t like it as much I would have liked it.

(x) The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan (published by Puffin)

Rating: 🫖🫖🫖🫖 –

Thanks to Hermes, I could put this one as it was a recent purchase. This series continues to remind me of Percy Jackson, which is a great thing.

(x) The Woman in the Purple Skirt by Natsuko Imamura (published by Faber Faber)

Rating: 🫖🫖 – – –

This was also Hermes, and it was a translated book. This short book is translated by Lucy North from Japanese.

IN PROGRESS

Little Thieves by Margaret Owen (published by Hodder & Stoughton)

(Review available on the 05th of October)

Progress @21%

Thanks to Titanomachy to make me read this book as it’s an ARC, and I needed to read it. This book is 500 pages, so it totally enters in this category of Titanomachy. However, I may DNF it as I struggle a lot with the writing. Release date: October 15th 2021

READATHONS

(x) This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone (published by Jo Fletcher)

Rating: 🫖🫖🫖 – –

This book was for Becca Rec for the Bookoplathon, which means that I needed to find a book she recommended in one of her videos. This one comes from the video “Best book of 2021 so far” It also corresponds to the Mist of Solitude in the Magical Readathon, which means to read a standalone.

(x) A Lesson In Vengeance by Victoria Lee (published by Delacorte Press)

Rating: 🫖🫖🫖🫖 –

This is for Humans on the Bookoplathon and the Orilium Academy Arc, as I needed to read a book in a school setting.

(x) The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict (published by Sourcebook)

DNF @53%

This book corresponds to the mood read space of the Bookopoly board and the Tower of Rumination, where I need to read a 5 stars prediction. Sadly, I couldn’t continue to read it.

I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn (published by Schoolastic)

(Review available on the 03rd of October)

Rating: None

This book is my double and my last roll. I fall on cute, and it has a map on the cover, so I finish by the Novice Path entrance and completely finish my Magical Readathon.

This is my month of September, like I said in some previous post, to talk about it: hectic; however, I didn’t know it would be like that. Nevertheless, the month is finished and tomorrow is the start of October and the Spoopathon. I will not take it as seriously as I took those two, but I will have a great time, that’s for sure.

And you, which books did you read for this month? Let me know in the comment!

Liz.
