This time my TBR was hard to construct. First, I wasn’t in the mood to do it and also two of the prompt was hard to fulfil. I used one of my bonus cards, and it became more manageable. However, I didn’t fill all the prompts for the readathon I’m participating in October. Sadly, that’s means that I need to add some books if I want to finish the readathon.
October Olympus TBR
Prompts

To make things easier for me this month, and because I didn’t want to read the only book corresponding to the prompt as we are not in winter, I decided to use my bonus card: change the prompt. I still have my re-roll the dice; I didn’t choose to use both of them simultaneously.
Books

Book 1
Olympus
Prompt: Read a book from the “To Read Before 30s” list
Pick: The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket (publisher: Harper Collins)
Why: This is one of the series I need to finish before my 30s (post). I started it when I was young but never finished. Now it’s the time!

Book 2
Goddess: Aphrodite
Prompt: Read a book that have your favourite trope
Pick: Circe by Madeline Miller (publisher: Bloomsbury)
Why: I want to read this book as it screams October with its colours and the main character: Circe, and her love for witchcraft. It also corresponds to the trope retelling that I read and like a lot.

Book 3
Heroes
Prompt: Read a book draws from the title pot
Pick: Le Deuxième Sexe I by Simone de Beauvoir (publisher: Folio)
Why: This book is a well-known feminist essay translated into many languages. I will read it in its original language: French. The English title is The Second Sex.

Book 4
Goddess: Athena
Prompt: Read a book with a good description
Pick: The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan (publisher: Puffin)
Why: This is the third book from the Trial of Apollo series, and I’m so into it that I stretch the prompt to a description and a synopsis. I was so pumped by the summary that I chose this book.

Book 5
Heroes
Prompt: Read a book draws from the title pot
Pick: The Looking Glass by Janet McNally (Publisher: Harper Teen)
Why: This book is a mystery book where a sister follows her sister’s steps and tries to unravel the mystery around her disappearance.

Book 6
Goddess: Hestia (I used my bonus card to change the prompt)
Prompt: Re-read
Pick: One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus (publisher: Delacorte Press)
Why: I didn’t have a book corresponding to the prompt, a book with a house, so I used my bonus card to change the prompt. With re-read, I will read OoUIL, and maybe I will want to read One of Us Is Next, the second book in the series. I read this book in 2017 for the first time.
Spoopathon
This readathon was created by the booktuber Spoopyhol. The purpose is to escape from a haunted house following a path. You have four ways to do it, and through this house, you can encounter ghosts and/or closed doors.
To achieve your goal, you need to fulfil the prompt to earn points and defeat ghosts and/or unlock doors. A reading prompt = 25 points and bonus = 50 points, and if you escape, you have a bonus of 100 points. Even if you encounter a ghost or a door, you keep your points. So you need to read a book that follows your path, but you can have bonus points if it enters in those categories: LGBTQIA+ rep/author, buddy read, spooky book, cover featuring team colour, and recommend to you.
For the teams you have five of them, I choose the yellow one:
- Spoop Shifters (pink): you can move diagonally on the board.
- Spectral Shenanigans (green): you can jump from one path to another .
- The Order of Spies (yellow): the doors are unlock for you.
- Ghostbusters (purple): the ghosts fly away when you come.
- Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun (blue): you can skip a prompt in your path.
More details in her announcement video (here)

For the path, I choose the blue one. So I will start with The Looking Glass by Janet McNally, then Circe by Madeline Miller next; I will see as I don’t have any book corresponding to the other one.
Those six books for this month make a total of 1,838 pages and an audiobook of 4h50. Thus, I need to read a total of 59 per day to achieve my month. Also, I have some more books that I want to read, which can add 1,472 pages to my October TBR.
- The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina by Zoraida Córdova,
- The Divine by Ellie Eaton and
- All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue
- Queenslayer by Sebastien de Castell, which can add 1,472 pages to my October TBR.
That’s it for today, don’t hesitate to share the books that you want to read this month or give your thoughts about these books if you have already read them.
Liz.
