July Olympus TBR

Last month, I participated in a readathon, the Whatever-You-Want-A-Thon by Maddie from Book Browsing Blog on Youtube (my thoughts about it will be published tomorrow.) As I read a lot of books, I want to have a quiet month in July. That’s why I choose to only read six books that have the particularity (except for two) to be short.

In June, I mastered the monster card; I now have two bonus cards, including one that I can use during the month: change a book and re-roll the dice.

Book 1

God: Ares

Prompt: Read a book about today’s battle

Pick: Brandsplaining by Jane Cunningham & Philippa Roberts (publisher: Penguin Business)

Why: This book talks about why marketing is still sexist, and sexism is a battle of today. Also, it’s a long time that I read non-fiction, so it’s perfect.

Book 2

Godess: Athena

Prompt: Read a book with a hero sidekick

Pick: The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson (publisher: Katherine Tengen Books)

Why: In this book, Stevie (the main character) has friends who will help her solve the mystery of the box in the woods.

Book 3

God: Hermes

Prompt: Read a book sets in a different country

Pick: House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland (publisher: G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers)

Why: This book is set in Edinburgh, so in Scotland. I visited once this city, but I don’t live there. It will be a book out of my comfort zone as its genre is horror, but I heard great things from this book.

Book 4

Half-god

Prompt: Read a book draw in the title pot

Pick: The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie (publisher: Harper Collins)

Why: I’m happy with this draw as I wanted to read a book from this author.

Book 5

Titanomachy

Prompt: Read a book that is equal or more than 450 pages

Pick: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan (Publisher: Puffin)

Why: The last book of the series, I am pretty sad about it. This book has 500 pages, so it enters the prompt.

Book 6

Half-god

Prompt: Read a book draw in the title pot

Pick: Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (publisher: Jo Fletcher Books)

Why: I like that title pot; it obligates me to read some books that I forget or postpone the reading.

Those are the six books that I will read for July, which equal the small amount of 1,943 pages. The good thing is that now we can go to the cafe or stay outside so when the weather is better, I will probably go back to my habit to read outside.

Don’t hesitate to share the books that you want to read this month or give your thoughts about these books if you have already read them.

Liz.
