Reading period: June 20th 2021 – June 22nd 2021

Summary

The stakes have never been higher. If Percy Jackson and Annabeth fail in their quest, there’ll be hell on Earth. Literally.

Wandering the deadly realm of Tartarus, every step leads them further into danger. And, if by some miracle they do make it to the Doors of Death, there’s a legion of bloodthirsty monsters waiting for them.

Meanwhile, Hazel and the crew of the Argo II have a choice: to stop a war or save their friends. Whichever road they take one thing is certain – in the Underworld, evil is inescapable.

Review

Sadly I was not fond of it as much as the other ones of the series.

This book is the biggest of the series, which surprised me, but I understand why. Indeed, there are two different settings and two groups. The first one is set in Tartarus with Percy and Annabeth, the second is the rest of the group with Nico, and we follow them going to the Doors of Death.

Like in all the books of this series, we find many more minor myths and minor goddess. I like this a lot because it helps to have a broader image of greek/roman mythology. Also, I was surprised by the comeback of some characters of the Percy Jackson series. It links this series to the previous one a lot more than before.

The problems I had was that many things happen in the book and sometimes too many. Also, because some characters are more present than others, you have inequality between them. This book is significant for the series, but I am not as into it as the other ones.

Now I just have one more to read before the end, but I don’t know what can happen, but I can’t wait.

Liz.
