My most anticipated books for the end of the year

Hello bookish people,

This Sunday, I will talk about all the books published between July and December and that I can’t wait to have in my hands. Let’s go!

AUGUST

19/08/2021

A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz

Genres: mystery, thriller

Hawthorn and Horowitz are on the south coast of England for an exclusive literary festival. What they didn’t expect was a murder and being trapped on an island.

Why? I always liked Horowitz’ mystery books, so I can’t wait to read this one. Also, it gives me Agatha Christie vibes, and she is my favourite mystery author.

SEPTEMBER

Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune

Genres: fantasy, romance, contemporary

Wallace is a ghost that doesn’t want to cross over; he stays at Hugo’s place, a tea shop owner and the ferryman for the soul to cross over. Until one day, the Manager gives Wallace the deadline of one week to cross over.

Why? I really liked The House in the Cerulean Sea, and I want to read more from this author. Also, this book sounds fantastic but heartbreaking at the same time.

28/09/2021

No Words by Meg Cabot

Genres: contemporary, romance

Jo Wright is an author, and she is asked to go to Little Bridge Island for the first-ever book festival on the island. She doesn’t want to go as her nemesis, Will Price will go. After a little convincing (all expenses paid trip), she agrees. However, when she arrives, she wasn’t prepared for Will to apologise for his past actions.

Why? I read the two previous book of this series, so I was happy when it was announced.

OCTOBER

05/10/2021

Little Thieves by Margaret Owen

Genres: fantasy, retelling

Vanja Schmidt was princess Gisele’s devoted servant until she stole the princess life as her grandmothers, Death and Fortune, ask a price for their care toward her. She is now a princess and a jewellery thief, and for her crime, she will be cursed by the wrong god that crosses her. She only has two weeks to undo the curse.

Why? I found this book on NetGalley, and it attracted me a lot, but I hesitate for a long time before asking the e-ARK of this book, but now I have it, and I’m pleased.

Lore Olympus Volume One by Rache Smythe

Genres: fantasy, romance, retelling

In this graphic novel, we follow the romance between Persephone and Hades.

Why? I was waiting for this book for a (very) long time as I always wanted to read this graphic novel, but I didn’t want to do it if it’s an e-book.

Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan

Genres: fantasy, retellings, science fiction

Ana Dakkar, a freshman at Harding-Pencroft Academy, lose her parents two years ago. She goes to a secret weekend trial at sea, but she and her classmates witness a tragedy that will change everything.

Why? Because it’s a Rick Riordan book like… duh, and yeah, I need to finish his other series, but I don’t care.

NOVEMBER

02/11/2021

The God of Lost Words by A.J. Hackwith

Genre: fantasy

The secret of the unwritten books has spilt, and demons who live in Hell want to have the power of those books.

Why? I read the two books, and even if I wasn’t as much a fan of the second one as the first, I just want to know the mythology used in this book and maybe close this series.

16/11/2021

Our Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

Genres: historical, fantasy, romance and retelling

Shanghai is at the edge of revolution. Juliette is still the heir of the Scarlett Gang, but her cousin is waiting for a wrong move from her to usurp her place. On Roma side, he feels responsible for Marshall’s death and that his cousin barely speaks to him. This revolution can change everything for these two gangs but will their hearts betray them?

Why? I love the first book, and I can’t wait to know the end of the story. I also wanted to be back in Shanghai in 1926.

30/11/2021

You’ll Be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus

Genres: mystery, thriller

Three old friends spent time together like in the old day. However, they finally follow one of their classmates and attend to his murder. The problem is that they all are linked to him.

Why? It’s a new book from this author and she is my go-to for a good YA thriller.

So yeah, my list starts in August, but I don’t have any books for July. There are eight books on my list, but I will find new books to add to it; we never have enough books.

Do you also have anticipated books for the end of the year? Tell me in the comments.

That’s all for today! See you a next time!

Liz.
