my reading summary: May 2021

This month I nailed it!! I read all the books of the Olympus TBR game, and I also read five more books. Two of them for the DoTheThingAThon and three because I had time to do it. It means that I finished the two books I started last month but couldn’t finish thanks to Netflix. I am happy to start this new month with a clean slate.

Here some stats:

I am quite happy of my reading, even if the genres aren’t as diverse as usual. Guys! I read my first (and only) dystopia of the year.
The average rating for this month is 3.6 out of 5 stars.

As I read a book for a Monster card and complete it, I am winning a bonus card for next month.

Here is the book I read during May with their prompts (if there is one). If you want to read a book’s review, you just need to click on the (x).

OLYMPUS TBR

(x) You and Me On Vacation by Emily Henry (published by Penguin UK)

Rating: 3/5

This book was a continuation from the previous month. I could continue it thanks to Hestia and her card: read a book you will think will be comforting/uplifting.

(x) Shadowblack by Sebastien De Castell (published by Hot Key Books)

Rating: 4/5

It was a Hephaestus card with the prompt read a book based on its cover.

(x) Heartstopper: Volume 4 by Alice Oseman (published by Hodder Children’s Books)

Rating: 5/5

This was a monster card, and the challenge was to read a book loves by everyone.

(x) You Lucky Dog by Julia London (published by Berkley)

Rating: 3/5

For this one, I needed to read a book featuring an animal (real or not) thanks to Artemis.

(x) The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan (published by Puffin)

Rating: 4.5/5

The prompt for this book was to read a book from a finished series and was a Demeter card.

(x) Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley (published by Henry Holt and Co.)

Rating: 3/5

This is the other book that I was in progress at the end of April. I could put it back in my TBR as I had the prompt read a book with a hidden cover, which is a Hades card.

DOTHETHINGATHON

The Lucky Escape by Laura Jane Williams (published by Avon)

(Review available on the 4th of June)

Rating: 4/5

It’s an eARC that I have from NetGalley, and the release date is 10th June, so that why I choose this book.

Widowland by C.J. Carey (published by Quercus)

(Review available on the 10th of June)

Rating: 4/5

It same reason as for the previous book, and it’s my first dystopia of the year. Release the 10th June.

OTHER

(x) The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket (published by HarperAudio)

Rating: 3/5

I needed a book, and the audiobook is only 4 hours something, so I finished it in 1 day.

(x) The Hostile Hospital by Lemony Snicket (published by HarperAudio)

Rating: 3/5

Same as for the previous book need a book that isn’t too long to listen to so I choose it.

Card Captor Sakura Clear Card Arc: Volume 9 by CLAMP (published by Pika)

Rating: None

I was dying to read this new volume of this manga, and I wasn’t disappointed.

I can’t wait to start June as I am in a reading mood like I’ve never been this year. Maybe it’s the weather, I don’t know, but I want to read a hundred books at the same time. Perhaps that’s why I am buying (too many) books.

Also, this month of June is first the month of Pride, and second, it’s the month of the Whatever-You-Want-A-Thon (announcement video here) created by Book Browsing Blog (@bookbrowsing on Twitter). I can’t wait to participate in this readathon as I love the TBR I choose for it. You need to wait for 4th June to discover it 😉!

And you which books did you read for this month?

Liz.
