Seventh book in A Series of Unfortunate Events series
Reading period: May 15th 2021
Summary
Dear Reader,
You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages.I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats.It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children′s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Review
I read the sixth book of the series last year, and I am at the same time happy to continue it and a little disappointed by it.
I wouldn’t say I liked this book as much as the previous one. This book was different from the others on many points. The first is that it’s like a mystery story with clues that need to be found and analysed. Then, this is a big turn in the series, a lot is happening, and a big event happen. The last for me is Hector; I cannot say anything else because of spoilers.
I had a problem with this book: while I was reading it, it feels middle grade. I know that it is, but usually, I don’t mind it or didn’t feel like it is, but I couldn’t shake this feeling for this one.
Also, I start to have a problem of pace with this series as there are thirteenth books, and I am approximately at the middle of it, and I still don’t understand the story around Olaf. The why, how, and every other question don’t have any answers, and it starts to frustrate me a little. Can I have at least a clue, please?
Listening to this book motivates me to continue with the series and finish it. Also, the audiobook is exceptional.
Liz.
