My Quarterly Wrap-up

Hello bookish people,

This Sunday, I wanted to do a big wrap up of all the books I read from January to March. I know that I’m late for this, but better now than never. So let’s go for the first quarterly wrap up of the year!

How have I done during those first three months?

I found that I have done great for the first month and a half of this year. I was one week ahead between my readings and my posts. I read a minimum of two books per weeks; I was so happy! However, for the second half of February, I started to have reading slumps, which made me lose my pace. In March, I participated in one readathon, which helps me to be more motivated and read a lot more. Still, it didn’t stay long before being back at how I was at the end of February. It was a strange beginning of the year.

Now it’s stats time! For these three months, I read a total of 9,733 pages representing twenty-nine books and 156 hours of readings. My average rating for this quarter of the year is 3.92 out of 5 stars.

Month by month

JANUARY

I read a total of ten books which represent 3,189 pages and 52 hours of reading. I read two comics, finished two series and continued one; I also read five standalone. The age category of those books was primarily adult. Still, I also read two new adults, one young adult and one middle grade. It took me an average of 4.3 days to read a book, and I gave an average rating of 3.7 out of five stars.

FEBRUARY

I read nine books which means 2,945 pages, and I spent 45 hours that month completing it. I finish one series, continue another and read six standalone. In detail, I read two middle-grade books, one young adult, and the rest are adult. I gave an average of 3.71 out of 5 stars, and it took me 4.66 days to read a book. I didn’t give any rating to two of the books.

MARCH

It took me 58 hours to read a total of 3,599 pages or ten books. I read seven standalone and started three series (was it a good idea? no… we all know it!) I read nearly as many young adults as adult books and only one middle grade. It took me 4.1 days to read a book, and I gave an average rating of 3.87 out of five. I didn’t provide a rating for two books.

How did I do compare to last year?

There is a lot of difference between 2020 and 2021. Last year I read a total of twenty-three books for the same period. This means that even if I struggle to read sometimes, I read six more books than last year.

There are two significant changes which are that I don’t give any rating if I don’t feel doing it, and I don’t give any .5 rating. When I’m looking at the rating I gave, I find that I gave a lot of 5 stars rating, whereas this year I only give two 5 stars to books that I feel really deserve it. If I re-read my books from last year, I would certainly change my ratings. As I read many books, I change my appreciation toward them.

My goal for the next quarterly wrap-up is to have read a total of fifty-two books at the end of June (as I have another readathon, I think I can do it!)

I am happy to have done this big wrap up to continue the second quarter of the year, which will be from April to June. I thought that I was so behind compared to last year, it motivates me to do better.

And how was your first quarter of the year? How many books did you read?

See you next time!

Liz.
